7 Simply Useful Travel Tips

Every time I start planning a trip, whether domestic or international, after searching for the cheapest fares, the next thing I do is try to search for travel tips. The thing is, travel tips can come and go and may get updated from time to time depending on what the trends are. I simply cannot get enough of reading through articles and blogs that are all about travel tips! So I came across an article that shared a lot of those an seemed to cover everything from planning to landing and since there are some who just cannot read all of them, I would like to share some of my favorite simply useful travel tips that were shared in that article.

When it comes to planning, I know type A persons will be jumping up and down with glee at this stage. If your focus is to get the most out of travelling or touring a particular country or city, try to search for the blogger who got famous for blogging your destination and ask for advice (if you haven’t gotten enough in his or her blog entry, that is). If your focus is more on the budget, try to search for alternatives for your trip such as going by bus instead of by plane or eating street food or delicacies instead of fine dining and taking walks instead of renting cars.  Another think that you should plan ahead is to pack as lightly as you can. The more time you have in planning and packing, the better & more practical your decisions will be. And remember to only pack the necessities!

In terms of booking, one of the best tips I would like to share is called “ax the middleman”. What does that mean, you may ask? It means that instead of booking through third party sites like Orbitz or Expedia, book directly through the airline or hotel. There is a likelihood of you being able to book cheaper airline tickets or hotel rooms in their own websites and there will be no transaction fees to boot. Another useful tip is to sign up for newsletters that will alert you of promotional fares.

During the travelling part, the simplest and most useful travel tips I read were BYOE and DYOE. It means bring and do everything on your own. Do not depend on airlines, hotels and such because although they might be able to provide the things and services you were looking for, most likely there will be fees associated with them. Nothing is for free anymore and everything seems to have a fee so if you want to save, BYOE & DYOE.

There you have it folks, the seven simply useful tips I gathered from my days of reading travel tips in different sites, articles and blogs. You might think of them as too simple or too basic perhaps but I can assure you when the time comes that you need to travel on a budget, they will be quite useful.
