Travel Guide: Think, Discover, Live

A lot of people may not consider it, but travelling is actually a stressful event. We have to go through a lot of things to make it happen and make sure that it all goes well. Who would want to have a disastrous vacay after all? Of course, every one of us hopes for a stress-free, enjoyable, and memorable (in a good way) break. Especially that most of us travel to “escape the reality” of our busy work life, demanding studies, or both. So, to help you achieve the things you hope for in your getaways, here are a few simple reminders or tips I want to share with you:

  • Patience is a virtue

Yes, we have heard of this a lot of times already and this may be considered as a cliché. However, some of us still take this virtue for granted. Patience is vital in every aspect of the journey. If you are a budget traveler, you have to find the patience to look for the best deals, to take advantage of promos and find the cheapest accommodations you could find. While in your destination, you have to have the patience to go around the place, communicate with people who do not speak your language well, or not at all! Of course, you might never know what could happen during your travel so make sure you brought with you tons of patience that will help you get through whatever without losing your mind ;)

  • Money Matters

In these modern times, a lot of us have become too dependent on credit cards. However, there are plenty of beautiful places to discover which are not “credit card friendly”. Simply put, there are still places that accept cash only. So, make sure you have ample cash with you during your travel to make sure you will be able to transact with the locals. Not only that, it is also helpful to place your cash in different places such as a secret pocket in your bag, different pockets in your jeans, and wherever safe places you could think of and you are sure to remember. Being in a new place might give you adverse surprises and the least thing you would want is to be left out empty handed.

  • Follow the Locals

I know that there are a lot of useful information available in Google to help you out discover your places of interests but there are also a lot of treasures hidden from media. If you want to discover the best things about the place, observe the locals. Try to discover where most of them eat or where most of them hang out. There are probably nooks and crannies in the locale that are not yet discovered by well-known magazines or publicized by other travel enthusiasts. So go on and see for yourself what else that place has to offer besides the mainstream. You just might be the key to that gem’s fame J

  • Live in the Moment

Above all things, ENJOY! Amidst your caution, the schedule, itinerary, and budget, please do not forget your mission and that is to have fun, right?
