Things to do when in Singapore

Singapore is located right below Malaysia. This tiny country used to be a fishing village but not anymore. Singapore is now one of the busiest countries in Asia despite its size. Singapore is also tourist friendly, regardless if you prefer just taking a stroll in its clean and peaceful city or enjoying the wonderful things it has to offer.

For the shopping fans, you can head on to Orchard Road where you will be able to find many high end designer stores. You can shop until you drop...or rather, until your budget allows you to! But kidding aside, the beauty of Singapore can be batter admired when you go to the suburbs.

If you happen to arrive early in the morning but would not want to waste any time in your hotel room, then head on to the Singapore Botanical Garden. It is open from five in the morning until midnight. Enjoy the variety of plants the place offers and of course, do not miss the National Orchid Garden where you will be able to find around a thousand species of orchids and around 2000 hybrids.

This may sound a little strange but if you are a lover of modern and contemporary art then you can head on to the Ritz Carlton hotel. Yes, it seems strange to go to a hotel to appreciate art piece but the hotel actually has a great collection of modern and contemporary art. And not to mention, it is under the radar.

Singapore has a rich history when it comes to culture. But if there is one place that one must visit to experience the Singapore culture, your best bet would be the Chinese Heritage Center. They have recreated scenes from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. It's like being transported back in time. But if you will look up at the skyline, you will realize that you are still in the present times because of the skyscrapers in the background.

Yes, Tokya may have the latest technology but Singapore has the widest range. And the good thing is you do not have to hop from one place to another because the gadgets stores can be found in two places, Sim Lim Square and Funan Digitalife Mall. Sim Lim Square has great deals to offer and if you are good at negotiating, you will be able to get some discount if you put your negotiating skills to work. Singaporeans especially like to give discounts when you pay in cash.

If London has the London Eye, Singapore has the Flyer to boast about. It is one hundred and sixty-five meters high observation wheel. Although not many locals go on this ride because a 30-minute ride costs S$9.50 and they claim it's too far. But mind you it's not. However, this is a good thing for a tourist because you don't have to deal with long queues.

And this is just a few of the many things that one can do while in the country. Despite its small size, Singapore is a country that has a lot to offer.
