In traveling, there are a lot of preparations to be done, booking to be made, and money to save. However, as a traveler it is inevitable for you to want to bring all the things you believe is or could be useful on your trip. Unfortunately, there could be several negative consequences of over packing, one would be having to pay extra amounts for every kilo of excess baggage.
When we travel, we would want to look good in photos and be able to travel in style. But we should remember not to sacrifice convenience and budget when we do this. So here are a few things to take not when packing for a trip:
- Bring clothes that are appropriate for the place you are going to. Take not of the season. When it is winter bring thick clothing or a couple of clothes you can layer, a neutral-colored scarf that can match any outfit, and footwear that can go with anything as well. If it’s summer, then bring light clothes. Remember too that some places are conservative and would not allow you to enter with sleeveless, slippers, or shorts on.
- Download music and ebooks of novels, and soft copies of guide/travel books to onegadget so that you won’t have to bring hard copies of your books and bring an ipod besides your ipad for your music.
- Minimize your wardrobe. As much as you would want to look stylish, remember that you are not there for a fashion show or a photo shoot only. You can always mix and match to achieve a different look.
- Remember that you are not going to a deserted island (unless you are), do not bring toiletries. Not only do they get blocked in airports, when in high volumes, but they also consume space in your bag no matter of small each of them are. There are available toiletries in the place/s you are heading, you can allocate a bit of cash to buy these necessities once you get there.
- Seal your bag. I do not know how to stress this tip more. You know you valuables inside your bag/s so I believe it is just common sense for you to not leave your valuables open as prey to predators. You would not want to get home empty handed, but with a heavy heart.
- Sometimes, other people get too careless in handling our travel bags-the not hand carried ones. So, it might be helpful to put a not on your bag, such as “FRAGILE” so that they would know your bag needs a bit of tender, loving, and care.
- Find a type of folding that could save up more space. Well, one factor to consider would be the shape of your bag and the type of clothes you bring. Some clothes fit better in the bag when rolled, other are simply folded the usual way.
- Segregate your things well. Place underwear in a different pocket from where you place your light tops. Separate the holder of documents from where you place your cash. You would not want to take everything out of your bag just to find one small thing which you forgot where you placed.
- Lastly, only bring what are necessary; skip the small stuff you have been meaning to bring because it is cute. No one looks cute when he or she seems uncomfortable bringing heavy baggage with him or her while traveling.
These packing tips do not only let you save some space in your package but also saves you from a load of hassle and from paying unnecessary extra cash for excess baggage ;)
