Barcelona has a great number of museums whose number is in the fifties. These museums cover different subjects which include history, architecture, art, science, sports, maritime and war. This explains why the number is so high and attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world.

  • Museu Futbol Club Barcelona, This football museum has trophies and statues of famous footballers making it very popular among football lovers. It is the Barcelona's football club museum and has all the famous players and their achievements. When here, you can choose to buy one ticket which allows you access to the pitch area of the museum or choose to buy dual tickets which will not only allow you to the pitch area but to the changing rooms, VIP lounge and the press rooms as well. This is definitely something for football fans. 
  • Museu Maritim is one among the special museums in Barcelona covering one century (1750-1850). It includes all types of maritime artifacts in and around Barcelona. The museum's history dates back to 1378 when King Pere IV signed an agreement to construct royal shipyards. It is a construction marvel of Catalan with Gothic architecture. The main attraction is a statue in Christopher Columbus' honor named Colonand Port Vell, a picturesque walk to the marina. The museum houses collections of ship models, steamships, models of shipyard, models from nautical schools, and half-hull models along with model of ships used by Spanish Royal Armada. The maritime museums has a wide range of navigation instrument collection from all ages, viz, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries and include marine chronometer, long distance glasses, sextants and octants.
  • Museu Picasso:Is a benchmark center for understanding Picasso's formative years and reveals his close ties with Barcelona. Five impressive Gothic buildings house Picasso's early work, as well as work from other periods, including the Blue Period and the Las Meninas series, a rich interpretative analysis of Velazquez's masterpiece.
  • Museum del Temple Expiatori de La Sagrada Familia. The architecture of Barcelona has been most influenced by the work of Antoni Gaudi and one of Gaudi's greatest creations is the Sagrada Familia - a giant Temple that has been under construction since 1882.

Barcelona's ancient history is also depicted in the Museum de Historia de Catalunya. It has many interesting exhibitions that deal with different periods of Catalunya's history. This museum has taken a proactive approach to displaying artefacts and has designed many exhibits that allow you to interact with the displays.
