London is one of the largest cities in the world with a population of 8 million people. It is a leading global city of culture, fashion, finance, politics and trade and remains one of the most visited cities by international tourists in the world because of its vibrant and multicultural background.

  1. Tower of London – it is now the home of British Crown Jewels. In the mid twentieth century, it serves as a prison of some of the known people such as Sir Thomas More, King Henry VI, Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard, the wives of King Henry VIII and Rudolph Hess.  The Tower of London was built as a demonstration of Norman power. The Tower of London – an imposing fortress with many layers of history, which has become one of the symbols of royalty – was built around the White Tower.
  2. St. Paul’s Cathedral – it is one of London’s most famous and most recognizable sights. It was almost caught by fire on the Second World War, but luckily saved by the firefighters. Its architecture was inspired by St Peter’s Basilica in Rome.  It was the tallest building in London from 1710 to 1962, and its dome is also among the highest in the world.
  3. British Museum – it is built in 1753 and is considered the largest and most comprehensive museum in the world because of its collection that reaches more than seven million objects. The British Museum in London is a museum of human history and culture.
  4. Palace of Westminster – is also commonly called as the Houses of Parliament. It is the seat of Parliament in the United Kingdom. Westminster Hall is the oldest building on the Parliamentary estate. It is such an astonishing building not just simply because of its great size and the magnificence of its roof, but of also because its central role in British history. In and around the Hall, grew up the major institutions of the British state.
  5. Buckingham Palace – it is where Queen Elizabeth II resides. It is not a monarch personal property although it is owned by the British state. The Changing of the Guard in the Forecourt of Buckingham Palace is a major ceremony and tourist attraction. The palace’s state room has been opened to the public in 1993 during August and September.
