The internet has become a part of the lives of most people these days that having no access to it may spell certain doom to them. Social networks enable people from around the world to connect with each other so when people travel; they share their experience through it. Families also make use of the internet so that they can still communicate with each other even if they are far apart. The good thing about today's technology is that most major cities offer free internet connection to anyone, as long as they have their devices ready for internet connection. Most people today make use of the mobile devices that are Wi-Fi ready so that they can easily connect to the internet with it. They no longer need to bring laptops with them since most mobile devices today are very handy and lightweight. The types of devices that you should be aware of when gaining access to the internet are as follows:
- Desktop – this is the commonly used type of device for internet access and is connected to the internet with the use of a hard-wired DSL although some make use of the Wi-Fi technology. This has a separate monitor, mouse, keyboard and other peripherals. The use of desktop PCs are slowly declining since assembling it takes time and takes a lot of space unlike other devices.
- Laptop – a portable type of computer that you can bring along with you anywhere you go. This type of device has slowly grown popular because of its portability. They vary in sizes which can be as small as 7 or 10 inches while others reach up to 17 inches, almost the same size that of a desktop monitor.
- Tablet – a smaller version of the first 2 but has limited capabilities. This is an only-screen device where the functions are determined through the touch of the screen. You can only connect to the internet using the Wi-Fi technology only.
- Smart phones – the common device and popularly used by almost everyone, including the tablet. Accessing the internet can either be the use of the Wi-Fi technology or the phone signal provided by the device.
You can choose any type of device that you want when you travel far away but the handiest would be the mobile devices since you can bring them along wherever you go.
