Cambodia also known as the Kingdom of Cambodia or the Kingdom of Wonder which is located in the middle mainland of Southeast Asia in the bottom portion of the Indochina Peninsula. It is surrounded by Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and the Gulf of Thailand. It gives you imagery of its wonderful and mystifying past, which is rich of literary heritages and world-renowned temples drawing out tourists from the different parts of the globe.
This destination is also famous for being one of the cheapest destinations in Southeast Asia. The food is also very affordable with local street vendors and basic restaurant meals to cater to your every need. A typical Cambodian meal includes rice and other dishes including a soup with the main dishes. Amok trey, the most famous Cambodian dish of tourists consists of commonly snakehead fish, or Mekong catfish that is enclosed with kroeung (a collection of Cambodian spices and herbs), coconut milk, egg, and roasted crushed nuts wrapped in banana leaves. Another one is the specialty from the region of Kep, the Kdam Chha Mrich Kchei consisting of fresh crabs found in the Gulf of Thailand, fried with garlic and an abundance of green Kampot peppercorn.
Transportation is also cheap only a few dollars. Get a bus or rent a driver for the day, whichever. There is a bit of everything here and there in this destination, depending on how much you are willing to pay of course.
Site destinations include but not limited to the Angkor Wat (a UNESCO site and one of the reasons why tourists visit Cambodia having a very huge structure that would require a few days to fully check this temple), Tongle Sap (the river that has one way or another affected Cambodian life), Sihanoukville (a favorite spot among tourists with its white sand beaches and calm and peaceful surrounding islands which has been noted to be great for diving, has an amazing array of seafood, and a heavy nightlife scene), Phnom Phen (the capital of Cambodia), Bamboo Island (located just outside Sihanoukville, it is a favorite place to relax highlighting the local culture and a chance to experience the traditional Cambodian dance, Khmer), Bokor National Park (the atmospheric French ruins is a favorite target for the French nobility back in the days), Prasat Preah Vihear (this awe-inspiring mountain temple is the reason for the conflict between Thailand), The Killing Fields (the infamous sites where numerous people were murdered during the Khmer Rouge regime, a not-for-the-weak of-heart destination in this country), and Kampong Cham (a great location to get acquainted with Cambodia having the old French-colonial feel).
So enrich yourself with ancient knowledge and indulge into a destination where down-to-earth and welcoming warmth and hospitality of locals, despite the country’s tragic past, never fails to impresses tourists, where it is rather very much appreciated for a place where language is a hindrance.
