Year End Goals: Goal Completions & Letting Things Go

Take risks. Take chances. Take a leap of faith. Move forward and keep moving forward. Do your best, no matter how small or insignificant the job may be. Aim for the top and don’t stop until you reach the zenith of your dreams. Start planning today and make them come true tomorrow – one step at a time. Reaching the peak of success and achieving your dreams will not be an easy feat; however, with the right steps and guidance, anyone would be able to make it to the top. Read and internalize the steps below and then apply them to your life and you’ll be one step closer to fulfilling and achieving what you want by year’s end.

1. Create your very own system. Take whatever ideas, tasks or plans out of your head and jot them down. Encode it on your computer or laptop; add it to your cell phone’s calendar reminders; put a sticky note to your walls or whatever works best for you. What is essential is that you can see your plans in a tangible way so that you will be reminded of it every single day.

2. Reflect and identify your personal and professional goals. What is it that you really want? What do you want to become? What do you want to accomplish? What do you want to achieve? Start by providing answers to these questions and write them down too. Put the answers to your system. Reflect on everything you have done so far and ask yourself if what you have been doing were necessary to your goals. If the answer is no, then start letting things go or stop doing whatever those were. If the answer is yes, don’t be content by doing the same things again; instead, find ways to improve whatever they were. Furthermore, if you have any past regrets because you haven’t followed them through, it is never too late to start acting on it again. If you got lost and strayed from your intended path this year, think of what you can do to get back on track. Write all these down, include it in your system and review them over and over again.

3. Think on what you can do before the year ends for you to feel good about yourself. Which areas of yourself do you feel still needs improvement? Do you have any personality flaws you would like to change and improve? What do you think would help you feel happier; content; confident and etc? Some activities that can promote growth may include: learning a new skill, achieving a goal you set for yourself or even forming a new habit that you feel will be helpful in the next year such as being more emphatic, prioritizing important activities first, daily reading and etc. Decide on activities and actions which would bring you closer to your goals. Think on it and deliberate carefully and finally, write these thoughts down in your system.

4. Identify what is currently draining you and leave it behind. Are you physically tired from constantly partying out too much? Are you emotionally drained from a relationship you are no longer happy in? Did you waste away your savings buying things that ended up being useless? Are you currently happy with the environment you find yourself in? Ask yourselves these questions, and some other questions you could think of and start thinking of ways to let them go. For example, if you are emotionally drained from a relationship, from a clique or friendship you are no longer happy in, why don’t you let them go? Letting go is never easy but won’t it be easier rather than having to pretend you’re happy? Instead of staying in these destructive relationships, find and form new and more genuine relationships and connections to people who you think are healthier for you and your mental health. Look for like-minded people, people who you respect and who respects you right back. The same principles apply to other areas of your life: identify your problems and try changing them or leaving them out completely. It won’t be easy but it you’ll be one step closer to being happy.

Write all of these things down in your list and place it in places where you can constantly see it. Read and re-read everything you’ve written down – you can add more relevant information or erase information which you think are no longer essential. Always bring your list along with you. Read it daily and choose which steps to handle. Maintain a mindset focused on results. Don’t focus on the individual tasks you have to do; instead, visualize the results at the end and then proceed one step at a time.
