Being in Tenerife is like always inside paradise because you can see greenery everywhere you go. All throughout the year, the climate is always favored by the locals and tourist. Another name the island of Tenerife is known for is Isla de la Eterna Primavera, understood by the locals as the eternal spring. All year round, warm climate dominates the island since the island is situated on the same latitude with Sahara desert. Average temperature of this island is between 20 and 22 degrees in the winter season while during high summer seasons is between 26 and 28 degrees. The volcanic ground of the island with porous and permeable character evident in it is the reason why the island has low amount of rainfall, being able to maximize its ability to absorb the water of the entire island. Other elements that contributes to the low rainfall and quick absorption of water is the frost deposition of the summit and condensation process in the forested areas.
The eternal spring, as the locals name it is derived from how the climate is always felt by the residents of the island the entire year. Although the island is situated near the African coast, it is still able to experience the kind of temperature the same way during spring season - not too cold nor too hot. The good balance of the temperatures makes Tenerife the best destination all year round, whether it is sunny, rainy or whatever the condition of the climate maybe. Its balanced climate is linked with the winds that are coming from northeast plus the sea current as well which contributes to the coldness of the island coming from the northern part of the Canary islands. Because of these, the temperatures remains as it is during winters and drops during the summers.
Changes of season can be inconsistent and unpredictable. At the south of the Canary islands it experiences more sunny days compared to its northern counterpart in which the clouds of the Passat winds are sometimes blocked by valleys which leaves humidity and dampness to trees in the higher mountains. This is the reason why the north part of the Canary islands have more greenery around them than the south part.
Tenerife is composed of different climatic zones. The northern part of the island filled with abundant vegetation and beautiful landscapes reaches beyond 2 thousand meters. Travelling in different parts of the island will make you experience different kind of climate and temperature.
