Watching Out For Your Health In Spain

Not all areas are that hard to adapt in but in some attractions in Spain, you might find yourself in a sickly situation that needs medical attention.

  • Heatstroke is a serious condition that may affect your normal behavior. In such cases you may develop hyperactivity and irrationality then leads to unconsciousness and death. Your body will need rapid cooling by spraying water all over it coupled with fanning. Electrolyte and fluid replacement should be applied through intravenous drip.
  • Heat exhaustion happens when there is an excessive loss of fluid from the body that has lack salt and fluid replacements from the body. The symptoms to this sickness include tiredness, dizziness and headache. Dehydration happens at a time when you are thirsty and when this happens, drink plenty of water until your urine is diluted, turning pale yellow. To replace the fluids lost from your body, drink lots of water or fruit juice coupled with cooling the body with fanning and cold water. Treat your loss of salts with salty liquids such as a bowl of soup or you can add table salt accordingly to the foods you eat compared to your usual intake.
  • Centipedes in Spain have very nasty sting although they are not considered fatal to your health. The ones that you need to really look out for are centipedes with really defined patterns on their body such as those with yellow and black stripes.
  • When you go to forested areas you need to watch out on caterpillars that are hairy and reddish brown in color. When you touch their hair it leaves a very itchy, allergic reaction to your skin. They live upon silvery nests in pine trees, especially around spring season, when they leave their nest, marching in long lines.
  • Stings from wasps and bees only affects people that have severe allergic reaction to them. If you are prone to wasps or bee stings, bring any adrenaline injection with you to fight against it.
  • Carry an insect-based repellent as mosquitoes are found all over the country. They do not carry any sickness with them but once they bite your skin it leaves an irritation.
  • Scorpions are also found in the country but they are not fatal. Their sting though can be annoyingly painful, which may make you distressed.
  • The venomous snake in Spain is called the Lataste's viper. The bite from this snake needs treatment with serum which can be acquired from clinics in many major towns.
