Joining volunteer work is not easy for many but it is such a good view to look at when you see people volunteering work for no cost at all just to help the people in need. You do not have to be a professional to be able to work as a volunteer abroad. In fact there are many organizations, both government and nonprofit ones that are in need of volunteers to work for them in various parts of the world. This way you will be able to visit foreign countries and at the same time give some of your quality time in helping the people by sharing your knowledge or by leaving the things you have when you leave the place.
Below is a list of groups that involves little to no cost at all if you wish to travel abroad and volunteer yet on a tight budget.
- Turtle Teams – if you want to help the sea turtles from extinction, this is the group for you. This is a name generally referred to small groups that assists in helping the endangered sea turtles. Most of the groups are based in either 1 or 2 beaches where the sea turtles make their nest, a location where they are at high risk for over exploitation. A night volunteer is already a big help for this group.
- World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms – In exchange for the free boarding and lodging fees you will do work for a full day at the farm. The stays are available starting from a single week to several years. There is a wide opportunity for those who wish to work at farms as a volunteer.
- Sudan Volunteer Program – if you are confident with your English teaching skills or have a license to teach English, you can volunteer to teach in Sudan, one of the most impoverished lands of the world. Those who wish to volunteer for this kind of program will need to provide their own airfare although other expenses are covered when they reach the site.
- Conservation Volunteers – if you are an environmentalist that wishes to protect endangered habitats, this program works best for you. Most of their projects are short terms only in which you will be working with teams from various international locations such as New Zealand and Australia.
You can still work as a volunteer even if you are not part of a group, charity or organization that specifically functions for that purpose.
