Almaty – this city is filled with cool fountains, parks, squares, amazing mountain views, wide streets and enchanting modern architecture. Baikonur Cosmodrome – this the largest and first of the world's operational space launch facility situated within the steep desert of the country, which is about 200km east from the Aral Sea, 5km from Leninsk city and 230km from Kzil-Orda. Guided tours are available in this place, and visitors can even witness launching of rockets into space. The first cosmonaut of the world took off from this place, on the 12th of April 1961 – Yuri Gagarin.
Nature Reserves – the north of the country lies Kurgaldjino, which houses most of the pink flamingos that settles in this area. The place of Naurzum, offers geographical contrasts of nature such as the ancient pines that are strewn along the sand dunes, salt lakes surrounded by forests, pine forests that are sprouting out of the salt-marshes – all of it are where you can find some of the rarest animals in the world such as the grave eagles and the hisser swans. Another nature reserve just south of Kazakhstan is a UNESCO biosphere reserve known as the Aksu-Zhabagly, which is home to 1,400 various plant species, 47 animal species and 239 various bird species.
