Isn't it exciting that you get to travel to a foreign land with cultures and traditions different from yours? You will be able to witness how the locals behave, how they get by with their lives on a daily basis and how they interact with strangers, especially with you, the traveler. There are a lot of success stories with travelers but there are also those that share their stressful stories once they have lived several months to years in that foreign land. There are a lot of things that can change your mental stability once you decide to live in a foreign land for a little while longer or make it as your permanent resident since you will need to study how they behave and follow their customs or else you will feel alone, depressed and experience a lot of mood swings. Note that this does not happen to every traveler since there are those that are able to cope with changes and are flexible in their approach.
Changes of your mood and even behaviors that you are unaware of will affect your trip. Some would even have suicidal thoughts since they cannot take the loneliness of being in foreign country and even some would commit violence just to overcome the feeling of being uncomfortable. When these feelings keep recurring when you travel, it is best advised that you seek a psychiatrist that will help you overcome this. They will be able to help you if you cooperate with them so that by the next time you decide to travel, you will not feel those uncomfortable feelings that you have felt before.
It is important that you provide everything to the doctor by answering every question they ask of you honestly. Do not forget to tell them about your treatments with drugs for specific purposes such as for your psychological problems, depression or substance abuse, if any. You may also need to seek a mental health professional to oversee your mental stability if you decide to move abroad. Find out too if your current health insurance cover mental health care that will be received when you present them abroad. If there isn't any, best to buy a separate supplemental medical insurance for travel. Look for a policy that will give you medical evacuation in cases when you need to get home immediately during emergencies.
When taking your prescriptions, do not take them out of their original containers and take the official prescription of your doctor with you.
