Three (3) Best Backpacking Travel Activities

Various holiday makers seek out destinations that are mainly suited to detailed activities, such as rock climbing or scuba diving. Bear in mind that some of these travel activities may require training, skills, specific gear, and planning. Others may be as simple as tripping into a warm spring to enjoy the comforting waters. There are three (3) different categories in backpacking, these are - (1). Urban Backpacking, (2). Wilderness Backpacking, and (3). Cross Country Skiing.

  • Urban backpacking

Urban backpacking is a form of budget travel focusing on flexibility and economically, frequently sleeping in hostels and other low-cost accommodation. The name backpackers was owed to the bulky nap sacks they typically use to bring their stuffs while traveling. They generally favor an independent style of travel, low-budget lodging, and staying dormitory-style facilities like hostels.

Travelers or backpackers can be seen travelling worldwide and know no boundaries and limits. Hot spots that are now famous destinations include Asia, Thailand, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, South America, and India. In Africa for example, a known popular route is from Nairobi or Cairo (Egypt) to Cape Town. Backpackers are well-known for their craving to travel long distances at the least spending possible. Common means of transport include: rail, boat, bus, backpacker tours, and Hop-on Hop-off transport.

Things to consider when packing:

  • Do not carry more than a few days' worth of clothing, due to limited storage space.
  • Washing services where you're staying could be expensive or nonexistent (or at least difficult to find).
  • Wilderness backpacking

Wilderness backpacking is a form of independent travel that affords opportunities to see sights available no other way, a personal exploration. This out-door activity is not an idea of a vacation carrying everything at your back. This will include physical effort and inconvenience in your travel time. Before taking off on a trip, evaluate what kind of zone you'll be traveling through.  Topographic maps will give you a better awareness as well as being essential for triangulation if you're going off-road. The same way to a specific weather condition at the time of year you want to go. When is the onset of rainy season? Temperature range? Daytime and nighttime temperatures? These are important factors that needed to be considered.

There are two basic kinds of backpacks used in wilderness travel: internal frame and external frame. The former frame packs have become popular because it uses a more flexible kind of frame that built into a fabric. While the latter is more traditional variety consists of a metal frame from which the fabric pack is strapped into it.

  • Cross Country Skiing

In Cross country skiing, it is a competent way of travelling long distances across snow. A traveler can go cross country in a ready track or outdoor in fresh snow. Ready track referred to as back country skiing or ski touring. Outside of the tracks, skis are tending to be a bit wider as compared to the skis in tracks. This purpose is to help you to glide better in the snow outside of the tracks. Boots are made of flexible synthetic fabric or leather.

There are two different techniques for cross country skiing: classic and freestyle. Classic means mostly skating forward with the skis in the tracks, while the freestyle resembles skating. Backpacking travel activities are very common in Europe or in all parts of the world. It is challenging because it is not a type of vacation en grande activity. It is also highly seasonal, timely and required careful planning. You should considered the weather, place, accommodation, financial capabilities, and other related factors that will go along the way.
