Sunburn and Sun Protection – Tips In Protecting Your Skin From Sunburn

Sunburn is extremely common. In fact, every person will have it at least once in their lifetime. The problem is that most people do not realize the dangers associated with this condition. These include even skin cancer. That is why preventing sunburn should be your number one priority when going outside on a sunny day. Sunburn is caused by the harmful UV rays of the sun. Usually, sufferers experience just redness of the skin, discomfort, a burning sensation and mild pain. However, the possible complications are many and different.

  • Preventing sunburn takes a few simple precautions. The most effective way of preventing sunburn is by using sunscreen which protects from the dangers of ultraviolet rays. For people with fair, white skin, it is recommended that a high SPF lotion should be used; so, lotion or sunscreen with an SPF of 30 is ideal.
  • In order to further protect the body from UV rays, proper attire should be worn. To protect the scalp and face, a wide-brimmed hat can be worn, which does not allow light to pass through. The eyes also need protection, so sunglasses should be worn to prevent UV rays from damaging the eyes and the areas around the eyes.
  • Lastly, protecting the body will require clothing that covers the most amount of skin, like pants and long sleeves.

Sunscreen is one of the important things in protecting your skin. Because It protects your skin from the sun, whose ultraviolet rays can break down our collagen and give us wrinkles, along with causing hyper pigmentation marks such as freckles and age spots. Sunscreen protects you from the sun by either absorbing or blocking the sun's ultraviolet light from sinking into your skin.

In the attempt to find beauty, some people would try anything to gain better features like body shape and contour. Some even attempt to make their skin more attractive by bathing in the sun to get tans. But, health should never be compromised while seeking beauty, so the proper precautions should be taken to prevent permanent damage to the skin like wearing sunscreen and the proper attire. And if you got sunburn, get professional treatment if you have sunburn. Inspect your body regularly for suspicious moles and call your doctor as soon as possible after you observe new growths or changes in old ones. Just always remember than sun screen is one of the important things in protecting your skin.
