QATAR'S GREAT SPOTS FOR DESTINATIONS

Qatar is a small Middle-Eastern nation with just a small population. Though Qatar is probably not in your list of your travel destinations, you might consider putting it in your list now.   1. Souq Waqif – it is one of the commercial areas in Doha. It is the only traditional souq, or standing market, in the gulf. Its maze of narrow streets offers traditional architecture, arts and handicrafts. Visitors can shop for a diverse range of goods including spices, perfumes, dried fruits and nuts, honey, clothing, tools, garden equipment, pots and incense. It is one of the most traditional market places in the city.
  2. Al-Zubarah – its ancient village is one of the most interesting archaeological sites in the gulf. The buildings were made using a traditional Qatari technique of mixing coral and limestone with a mud mortar, which is then topped with gypsum based plaster. The plaster was often decorated with geometric patterns and offered the buildings protection from wind and rain. Artifacts are also displayed in the Al-Zubarah fort's local museum. It presents a history of the town and has a range of exhibits including coins, pottery, porcelain, jewelery and pictures of the excavations.
  3. Doha – it is an important commercial and cultural center in Qatar. It is located halfway down the east coast of peninsula. It is also connected in an excellent manner with the outside world through state-of-the art seaports, airports and telephone links.
  4. Kingdom of Aladdin – it as an artificial lagoon, a rest house, a cafeteria and a theatre. It is located at the West Bay area and comprises more than eighteen play features for all age groups.
  5. Al Jassassiya – it is situated in northwest Qatar. It is the o the best preserved and most spectacular petroglyphs in the state. There are carvings of geometric shapes, animals and ships in the outcrops of fossil sand dunes, or jebels. The area also has ruined dwellings and remains of pottery from the 15th century.
