Though Netherland is a small country located in Western Europe, there are a lot of destinations tourist can choose from. But few of these destinations made it to be popular for tourists to visit. This article will introduce five of the most popular destination in Netherlands. Transportation should a problem for tourist since Netherlands is one of the densest road networks in the world. People can choose to visit places by train, car, bicycle or walking. Any of these modes of transportation will still leave lasting memories of your vacation in Netherlands.

  1. Amsterdam - A lot of tourists who visit Netherlands usually starts with Amsterdam which is the capital city. This is one of the most visited cities in the world. Another city that was built on water, Amsterdam leaves an impressive memory with its canals. Tourist can stroll alongside these canals or try a boat tour. Aside from these exciting canals, there are also lots of places to consider for a more feel of the city. Tourist can explore different business building like boutiques, cafe and hotels or stroll around. There are also a lot of museums to visit for those who love to learn the country’s history and culture.
  2. Kinderdijk – A village in Netherlands which means ‘Children dike’ in Dutch. This name is because of the Saint Elizabeth flood of 1421 wherein a person found a wooden cradle floating and stranded in the dike after the incident. It turns out that the cradle contains a sleeping baby with its guardian cat who is said to keep the cradle afloat.  In this place, 19 windmills were built to drain the polder. UNESCO World Heritage Sites included it to their list and became one of the most important attractions in Netherlands.
  3. Keukenhof – Also known as the Garden of Europe which is situated at the outskirts of Lisse. Keukenhof is largest world-famous, most beautiful flower park. This garden contains the country’s most popular flower, the tulips in 700 varieties. The garden’s charm is usually because of the diverse colors of the flowers.
  4. The Hague – is the seat of government and is the third largest city in Netherlands. It is considered as the cultural center of the city wherein night life is enjoyed. The city’s three main square offers a large sidewalk cafes, great market with lots of chairs and tables, and the Pathe cinema with several bars and restaurants around.   5. Hoge Veluwe National Park – If you’re into nature and its inhabitants, you should visit the Hoge Veluwe National Park. This is situated in the province of Gelderland and is the largest nature reserves in Netherlands. The place consists of woodlands and sand dunes.  Its wildlife consists of red deer, roe deer, wild boar, foxes, badgers and more. Because of its bicycle sharing system, visitors can visit the garden and avail a free bicycle to use. The park also contains a museum that contains the largest collection of private Vincent Van Gogh paintings.
