This name is because of the Saint Elizabeth flood of 1421 wherein a person found a wooden cradle floating and stranded in the dike after the incident. It turns out that the cradle contains a sleeping baby with its guardian cat who is said to keep the cradle afloat. In this place, 19 windmills were built to drain the polder.
