Places to see while in Indonesia

Indonesia is the largest archipelago on Earth. It has a total of 17,000 islands. So with it being so huge, one should be able to find something in this wonderful country that will suit one's taste. Here is a list of places that you might want to check out if you happen to be in the country.

First on the list is Jakarta which is the country's capital city. But since it is a busy and congested city, do not be surprised if you bump into traffic here and there.

But if being in a busy city is not your thing, you can go to Yogyakarta. You will be able to find puppet makers here, silversmiths, food vendors and street art. This is the right place for you to enjoy the culture of Indonesia the way it always has been. Yogyakarta is also a cultural and historical center. And you can also travel to the breathtaking temples of Borobudur and Prambanan from here.

Lake Toba is next on the list. Fun fact: Lake Toba is the largest volcano lake in the whole world. Lake Toba is a great place to unwind at. After a long travel to reach this serene lake, go for a swim to relax your sore muscles. Spend the afternoon lazing around in front of your cottage as you enjoy the wonderful view. You can also get a wonderful massage and end your day with a delicious meal.

Bali has great beaches to offer. So for beach bums, this is a good place to visit. Yes, it may be packed with tourists but there is no denying that the place is spectacular. It is a laid back coast and hopefully, despite the commercialization of the place, you will still be able to see the real beauty of the place. And because it is a tourist spot, Bali has a great night life as well. So if that is also your thing, there are night clubs than you can go to for partying!
Lombok is another famous destination, regardless if you are a water or mountain lover. You can go on a trek in Gunung Rinjani or just enjoy the crystal clear waters of the coast.

If it is the underwater life that you long to see then the place for you would be Raja Ampat. It is probably the best diving places in Indonesia and one of the best in the world as well. You can see 75% of the coral species here and over a thousand coral reef fish fauna. Marine life enthusiast will definitely consider this as a haven.
And who could even forget about the great Komodo dragons? If you want to see the largest living lizards that exist to this date, the Komodo National Park is where you should head to. And if you are lucky, you should be able to see legions of fruit bats at night.
