Packing Tips For Business Traveler

When it comes to travelling for business, the last thing you want to be doing is spending hours packing your bags for a trip. Not only is it time consuming and somewhat boring, but those valuable hours could be spent catching up on much more important things! Nonetheless, if you are required to travel interstate or internationally for your job, here are some essential travel tips to keep packing time to minimum and enjoy a hassle free journey.

  • Get the right bag. Which means get a roll-along, soft-sided, expandable garment bag that folds, zips up into a smaller and more manageable size. Don't go cheap or it will be a throw-away inside a year
  • Garment bags are very useful and I highly suggest buying one for packing dress shirts and suits. Using a garment bag, in addition to your carry-on luggage, is the best method for preventing wrinkles to your dress clothes.
  • Make a list before you pack. Create your own, or find pre-made lists for your specific travels online.
  • Pack your delicate items in the middle of your case. Keep the delicate clothing away from the edges to limit the amount of wrinkling. Place your T-shirts first, your suites next, followed by shirts and ties, then your other clothes.
  • Pack no more than 3 pairs of shoes including the ones you are wearing onto the plane.
  • Silk neckties are among the most delicate items to pack in your suitcase. Other options to silk neckties are those made from wrinkle-free microfiber, but nothing really compares to a silk necktie. So, when packing your neckties, keep them away from the edges of your suitcase and away from objects that have sharp edges. It's best to place them in the center of your other clothes which offer the best padding.
  • Make sure you stay at a hotel that provides an iron and ironing board in your room as this will give you the ability to take care of those small wrinkles yourself. Do not iron your suits of neckties. If you see wrinkles on your suits or ties, hang them in the bathroom during your hot, steamy shower

Versatility is really the key in packing your suitcase quickly and effectively. After all, there is nothing worse than arriving at your destination with a heavy case full of items that can only be worn once while you are on your business trip.
