There is nothing better like a road trip through all 50 states in mainland USA so if you & your friends plan on having one, I would like to share one amazing tip I learned from years of budget travelling: shop after purchase.
It sounds a bit ridiculous, right? Well, the thing is, before you do any searching, planning and booking, once you have found a good deal for the trip, like the car that you will be renting, for example, do not (and I mean this seriously), do not forget to read and understand the cancellation policy first. Once you have confirmed that you can cancel anytime and you will not be charged with anything or you can cancel anytime and you will be fully refunded of what was initially charged for the booking, then it is then safe to shop after purchase. This tip usually only works on hotel bookings and car rentals because air fare bookings are a bit trickier (what with all of those fare rules). Once you see a better deal after your original booking, book that better deal right away (after reading the cancellation) and cancel the old one. And once you have gotten the best deal possible, do the following activities.
Drink in the scenery at the Grand Canyon. It is guaranteed that you will fall in love at first sight when you get to see and experience the Grand Canyon, which took millions of years in the making, by the way. Forget the blinding lights of Vegas and Atlantic City, this is nature at its best. Try the Grand Canyon Skywalk, where you can take a walk over the edge of the canyon on a glass bridge. Pay a visit to Washington DC. You might not be interested in politics but going to the nation’s capital is a must do. Just imagine seeing all the architecture, monuments and sculptures and even visit the USA’s most famous address, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., also known as the White House. Make sure to go to the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument. Don’t join a tour. Get lost all by yourselves!
Have an ultimate New York experience. There is nothing more American than going for a day and a night out in New York. Watch a Broadway musical, eat hotdogs at Papaya’s, go for a luxury car rental tour in landmarks such as the Empire State building, the Central Park and the Met and even go visit the Statue of Liberty or even Coney Island (if you have time) or ice skating at the Rockefeller Center. If you are fan of series and sitcoms, create your own tour of the Friends sitcom or the Sex and the City series. If you have extra moolah, try out fine dessert dining at Serendipity 3 and shop ‘til you drop at Bloomingdale’s.
So, there you go. I have shared you one amazing tip and an amazing itinerary for your US road trip. So why don’t you go ahead and start planning for this trip now?
