Insurance For Travelers

You just had your trip planned carefully but have you included insurances in it? Take note of the 3 kinds of insurance that you need to consider before you go on your trip. These are:

  • Medical evacuation
  • Travel health
  • Cancellation

Each of these insurances cover different situations and are very important especially if you are planning to stay in a particular place for longer periods of time.

Cancellation insurance is a kind of insurance that cover all the financial investment with your trip like train tickets, airline tickets, or cruises. Your insurer will give you what else they cover and make sure that you examine it carefully since it will become your policy once you commit to it. Make sure that covers what you deem is important to be covered during your trip including a cancellation of the entire trip once a member of your family or you get sick. Your medical car may not be covered in this kind of insurance so for this case, you will need the travel health insurance.

When a situation arises that you need to visit a hospital during your trip, you will be asked to shell out your money to pay for the bills. It can get troublesome too since most hospitalization services are expensive, not to mention the medicines that you need to buy after that. When you go to places that offer nationalized health care, you should not pin your hopes into this since it may only cover those who are officially citizens of that country. For this problem, you will need to get a travel health insurance. Make sure too, just like with cancellation insurance that it covers every need that deem necessary for you. If you already have a health insurance at hand, find out from your insurer if it covers anything that happens to you when you go abroad. Check out if there are any exclusions like adventure activities or preexisting conditions. If it is not adequate enough for you, you may have to consider getting short term supplemental policy.

If your destination is a place remote and almost detached from civilization and does not have the same standards of health care the same way your home town does, consider getting a medical evacuation insurance. You can buy this as a separate insurance together with your travel health insurance. This will pay for the emergency transportation from poor to high quality hospital. Also include a policy that provides 24 hour support from a physician.
