Important Things That A First Time Traveler Should Know

Travelling is one of the great things to do especially on a vacation. We get to discover new things that we don’t expect to exist and it has a lot to offer – enjoyment, fun, thrill and most of all the memories that it will bring. Not only we do travel for a vacation, some also does it for a business travel. So if you plan to travel, it’s always best to get ready with everything. Being ready does not only mean financially but also emotionally and physically. Safety first before anything else. Here’s a travel safety tips to consider:
Secure your luggage
Whether it’s a backpack, a shoulder bag or a big luggage make sure you have a lock. Most especially if you are travelling on a plane and you checked in your luggage. If travelling on a bus, place your bag on your lap or somewhere so you will be able to keep an eye on it.
Inform someone of your itinerary
Let your family or friends know where you are going, your estimated time of arrival and where your route. When you’ve reached your hotel, gave your family or friends the exact address, your room number, and the name of the hotel.
Keep your money and credit card safe
Do not ever put your wallet on your pocket, it attracts bad people. Instead, have a small handy bag with you where you can put your wallet and credit card. Place it in front of you so can monitor it.
Familiarize your Destination
Before planning where to go, get to know the places well. You will never get wrong when you scroll all the possible destinations, reviews and comments.
Hotel Safety
Choose a hotel that is within the downtown, somewhere where everything is accessible e.g., Police Station, hospital, pharmacy, mall, convenient store. When you reached inside the hotel, take time to read and familiarize the emergency exit plan posted inside your room. Roam around the hotel and check where the exits are.
Blend in with other people
As much as possible, do not make yourself attractive to other people. Do away from putting on expensive jewelries and clothing. Avoid looking like a tourist, if you plan of bringing in with you a map, you might as well wrap it with a local newspaper or a magazine so it won’t be so obvious.
Stay Healthy!
Keep yourself hydrated; always bring a bottle of drinking water. Put on your sunscreen with SPF 15 or more before going out and make sure to re-apply it every 2hours to avoid that over-tanned look when you got home.
Whether you are in a business or in a personal travel, always remember that Safety must be your top priority. If you feel uncomfortable and don’t know why, then trust your instinct! Quickly find your way out from the situation. Our instinct has a reason, so never take it for granted.
