Probably the most popular type of photography today is travel photography and millions of people take photos during their holidays around the world, in the most beautiful travel destinations. But not every tourist with a camera can be truthfully called a photographer and not all images captured during our travels can truly be called photographs. Here are some tips that a photographer should have in his/her travel.
- Camera body - If you have a compact or bridge camera, you can just take that with you, but if you are serious about photography, you should own one or more DSLR camera bodies. Just take one of them, the most versatile and lightweight you have the one that you love the most and offers good results in all situations.
- Lenses - In terms of lenses, things are not as simple as it might seem. There is a huge variety of models that vary in terms of several characteristics. The basic recommendations would be to just take one or maximum two lenses in your travels. Either chooses an all around lens with excellent quality, or a wide lens and a short telephoto lens in order to cover all your angles. Also, try to take good quality lenses that give good results in most lighting conditions and also consider the weight of these lenses.
- Batteries and the charger - Have a set of new batteries already in place in your travel digital camera and have an extra set ready, just in case you run out and don't have time to charge your batteries again. It's always handy to have two or more sets of batteries because photo sessions can be quite consuming in means of time and power. If your travel camera has got a specific type of battery that requires that specific charger, then bring it along and charge up those batteries as and when you have time.
- Tri-pods - These stabilize the camera and help hold heavy lenses and flashes.
- Various lenses - As you build your business you will create a collection of lenses, which can help create any shot in any scenario.
- Photography props - These can be anything that would make a unique or memorable picture.
The best key to successful travel photography is you just need to be more prepared and plan everything ahead. If you have all this equipment, then you’re good to go in your journey.
