Breathtaking Destinations In Uganda

Uganda is found in the heart of sub-Saharan Africa and lies astride the Equator with 18% of the total land area enclosed by fresh water bodies and swamps, and 12% national parks, forests and game reserves giving it richly diverse habitats with lake shores, Nile river banks, and Albertine Rift Valley forests. Here are some tourist destinations in Uganda that you can visit.

  • Murchison Falls in Masindi 

The Murchison Falls have beautiful scenery to provide its visitors and the whole region is adventurous and full of romance! Aside for viewing the majestic falls, there are plenty of holiday activities to keep the holiday travelers amused such as boat trips which operate from Paraa to the foot of Mountain falls and take around two and a half hours. There is the Murchison Fall National Park, the largest wildlife sanctuary in Uganda. This is a great safari destination. Visitors can spot hippos, crocodiles, and magnificent bird life closes up. There are also nature walks to the top of the falls for instance at Kaniyo Pabidi, where you holiday travelers can track chimpanzees.   • Mount Rwenzori 

If there is any other astonishingly tricky place for hiking safaris in the world other than Mount Rwenzori, then it must be not as interesting as hiking the Rwenzori. The fabled 'Mountains of the Moon' are located in Western Uganda along the DR Congo borders. It snow covered peaks rise to a height of 5,109m. There is also Rwenzori Mountains National Park gazzetted in 1991. The park stretches over an area of 996sq km and it's mostly accessible only to hikers although the eye-catching scenery and over 18 Albertine recorded Rift endemics are worth a second glance for the ardent birders.

  • Ssese island

Ssese islands are a collection of 84 attractive Islands situated in the northwestern part of Lake Victoria and are an increasingly popular tourist destination in Uganda. Described as a cross between the Hebrides and the Caribbean, the islands offer scenic views, plenty of activities like nature walks, fishing volley ball and other games. Spending a weekend on this island is adventurous.

  • Queen Elizabeth’s National Park

Named from the famous Queen Elizabeth II, the park is located south west covering the whole of the Kazinga channel that connects Lake Edward and Kyoga. The park is known to Harbor a large number of species ranging from predators, herbivores, antelopes, birds and other small organisms.
