Packing for a cruise is not as easy as just stuffing your clothes inside a suitcase. There are things you must consider in order to pack your bags smartly.   • Shoes

Most cruise ships will remind their guests to avoid wearing shoes that may harm the deck. High heels and leather shoes are particular a no-go when it comes to cruising. For people who are going for a cruise, it is highly recommended that they bring shoes that they are comfortable with when going sightseeing.

  • Hats

You need a good protection against the sun. Headbands, scarves, and bandanas can be a good alternative to hats, especially if you want to look fashionable. Do not forget to bring a pair of sunglasses for additional protection against the sun.

  • Day Packs

Your check-in baggage can have all the things you need for the whole duration of the trip but your carry-on bag should have your day pack. The day pack is mostly composed of your camera, books, water bottle, sunscreen, and any other items you might need while walking in port or on deck.

  • Entertainment

There is no harm in bring a few magazines or books during the travel. Do not forget to bring items that might be fun for you during the trip. Examples would be snorkeling gears, if you have plans to go snorkeling. Binoculars can be a must-have for the cruise too.

Cruise ships can provide you with the basic toiletries that you need during the whole trip. However, you might have some preferences when it comes to your toiletries. Pack your own body lotion, shampoo, or condition then.

  • Gadgets

Of course, gadgets are a must-have for the trip. Examples of those gadgets that you should not forget to bring for the trip include your DSLR camera, tablet, GoPro, PSP, laptop, and the likes. Bring power strips as well as extension cords since most cruise ships have limited power outlets. Of course, remember to check what limitations the cruise ship has with regards to the usage of electricity beforehand.

  • Beverages

Depending on the cruise ship rules, you might be able to bring your own soda or water bottles. By bringing your own beverages, you can prevent yourself from spending money on overpriced beverages sold onboard. Check the rules beforehand so you can decide what beverage to drink as well as prevent any from getting confiscated before you board the ship.
